When making plans for your child’s senior year, there are so many things to consider. One of the most important things that will set you up so that you are ready to hit the ground running when your child‘s senior starts is to be sure to plan ahead when thinking about senior pictures.
Things to consider:
1. Is your child an athlete? The reason why this is so important is because so many time many decide to what until later to do senior pictures. Consider this, in the months of June and July your child isn’t in school 8hrs a day. Once school starts and your child is an athlete, they are in school for 8hrs and then have practice for two more after that. once practice is out, then your child would need to shower and change/do hair and make up before they would be ready to take pictures. This pretty much marks off all dates during the week. Now if your child plays say volleyball, then they have tournaments on Saturdays too. (Even football generally has practice on Saturday mornings for a least a short time)
2. If you think your child would like spring pictures, I would suggest doing them in the spring of their junior year instead of waiting until spring of their senior year. The reason I say this is because in Indiana, the trees aren’t in full bloom until the end of April/1st of May.
Gradation Cards are normally mailed out 4 weeks before your date so waiting until spring will add pressure to an already stressful/emotional time. Plus April showers bring May flowers so rain is always a possibility.
3. Many families have a tendency to take some sort of vacation over the summer. This will take a week always from your date options.
4. If your child is an athlete m, they may also be out of town for a camp or two over the summer.
5. If your teens works a job that is one more thing you have to work around, especially after schools starts.
